The RCC Soroti city, warns communities against transporting livestock at night

By Solomon Kedi – The Resident City commissioner (RCC) Soroti city, Robert Adiama has strongly warned communities against transporting animals during the night.

The warning follows increasing cases of theft of cattle like cows, goats, sheep and pigs in various parts within the City and the district as he now directs all the respective LC1 chairpersons in the entire City and district to stop and impound anybody found transporting animals by any means during night hours.

“People should stop the movement of animals at night and I have shared this with other security circles anybody found transporting livestock at night will be arrested and questioned and in case you are a genuine cattle trader and your vehicle breaks on the way at night report immediately to the nearest police station and the move in the morning…” he said.

Meanwhile, Patrick Okumu the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Soroti district has also asked members of the public to be vigilant and coordinate with the security officials to combat the vice.

“At the moment we are looking at developing the area but there are enemies of progress, at this moment there are rampant cases of animal theft and I want to urge every citizen to avail us with the information that can help us in combatting the vice, we will arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.” He said.
